Graduate Diploma of Management Cancelled: What It Means
Graduate Diploma of Management: What the New Government Changes Mean for You
An Important Update for Current and Prospective Genesis Students
Speak to Our Admissions TeamOn 3 September 2026, the Australian Government announced it is cancelling new international student enrolments in the BSB80120 Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning), effective 5 October 2026. It is the first time the government has used the course-cancellation powers it introduced through reforms passed in November 2025, and it affects a qualification offered by hundreds of providers across the country, including Genesis International College.
If you are currently studying this course with us, thinking about applying, or just trying to understand what the news means, this update sets out the facts plainly and explains where Genesis stands.
What’s Changed
The Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) is a nationally recognised vocational qualification that has been offered by 452 registered training providers across Australia. As of the government’s announcement, there were around 41,033 active Confirmations of Enrolment nationally, and roughly 25,000 international students connected to the course in some way, including about 15,772 students currently partway through their studies.
- ✓New international student enrolments in the course stop nationally from 5 October 2026
- ✓Confirmations of Enrolment for students who have not yet started their studies are automatically cancelled on that date
- ✓Domestic (Australian resident) students are not affected by this change
What This Means If You’re Already Enrolled
If you are already studying the Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning), the government has confirmed you can keep going and finish your qualification without disruption. The cancellation only stops new enrolments from 5 October 2026 onward.
- ✓Students who have already started their course can complete it as planned
- ✓Confirmed enrolments for students who have not yet started will be cancelled automatically on 5 October 2026, and providers are required to reach out to those students within a month with refund and next-step information
- ✓Anyone affected should also check the Department of Home Affairs website for guidance relevant to their own visa situation
Genesis International College’s Compliance Commitment
Genesis International College is compliant with this change and will follow it in full. From 5 October 2026, we will not enrol any new international student into the Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning). Any of our own students already studying this qualification will continue to be supported through to completion, with no disruption to their studies.
We will keep following guidance from the Department of Education and the relevant regulators as it is released, and we will update students and staff directly if anything further changes. If you have questions about how this affects you personally, our admissions team is the right place to start.
